- Course Highlights:
- All courses are provided in lecture format by your instructor, live and in real-time, via videoconference.
- Percentage of Total Grade. The lecture portion of the program represents 10% of the total grade.
- Experiential Project Highlights:
- There is no substitute for doing. Each experiential project deals with a real and specific virtual organization management issue at VOMI; and is designed to allow you to develop self-efficacy [and] competence in the subject matter discussed.
- Percentage of Total Grade. The experiential portion of the program represents 30% of the total grade.
- Practicum Highlights:
- There is no substitute for doing. Upon completion of all courses and prior graduation, you will conduct a combined total of 8 virtual organization conferences and training sessions. You are required to devote a minimum amount of 48 hours toward the 8 practicums. Your final grade will reflect your presentation performance at these events.
- Percentage of Total Grade. The practicum portion of the program represents 10% of the total grade.
- 1-Year Case Study Highlights:
- There is no substitute for doing. Upon completion of all courses, you will architect and lead a virtual organization from scratch either at VOMI or at an organization assigned by VOMI; and will prepare case study outlining procedures used, documenting results, and lessons learned. You are required to devote a minimum amount of 832 hours (min 16 hours per week) toward this case study.
- Oral Defense of Case Study. A successful oral defense of case study between March 1 – May 31 of Year 3 is required in order to graduate and obtain the CVOA designation.
- Oral Defense Application Deadline. An oral defense application form must be filled out online and submitted at least 10 days prior to the requested defense date.
- Percentage of Total Grade. The case study and defense portion of the program represents 50% of the total grade.

CVOA Practicums
- There is no substitute for doing. Upon completion of all courses and prior graduation, you will conduct, under your instructor’s supervision, a combined total of 8 virtual organization videoconferences and training sessions. You are required to devote a minimum amount of 48 hours toward the 8 practicums. 1-Year Case Study & Oral Defense
- There is no substitute for doing. - Case Study Timeline (including oral defense): June 1 of Year 2 – May 31 of Year 3. Case study papers should be completed by February 28 of Year 3 in order to allow sufficient time to prepare for and apply for defense.
- Final Due Date for Case Study Papers: February 28 of Year 3.
- Oral Defense of Case Study. A successful oral defense of case study between March 1 – May 31 of Year 3 is required in order to graduate and obtain the CVOA designation.
- Oral Defense Timeline: March 1 – May 31 of Year 3
- Oral Defense Application Deadline: An oral defense application form must be filled out online and submitted at least 10 days prior to the requested defense date.
- Final Date for Oral Defense: May 31 of Year 3.
